QUITE A FEW YEARS AGO, LINDA, MY WIFE WAS READING THE BIOGRAPHY OF MRS. CHARLES SPURGEON. LINDA WOULD
OFTEN SHARE WITH ME INTERESTING THOUGHTS FROM THIS BIOGRAPHY KNOWING MY INTEREST IN THE MINISTRY OF CHARLES SPURGEON. THERE
WERE TWO ITEMS WHICH LINDA MENTIONED TO ME
THAT I HAVE TRIED TO EXPOUND IN MUSIC. THE FIRST BEING THE STATEMENT WHICH
MRS SPURGEON MADE, "ITS IS NOT THE END IT'S JUST ANOTHER BEND",THE SONG, 'ITS JUST ANOTHER BEND," WAS WRITTEN AND RECORDED
ON THE ALBUM ENTITLED, "ITS IS THE KING OF KINGS". QUITE A FEW YEARS LATER THE OTHER THOUGHT WAS PUT TO MUSIC-"SINGING THRU
THE FIRE". THE STORY RELATED IN HER BOOK MRS SPURGEON RECALLED TO MIND THE DAY IN WINTER TIME WHEN SHE HEARD THE SOUND OF
A BIRD SINGING OUTSIDE HER WINDOW. AFTER LOOKING FOR QUITE A WHILE OUT THE WINDOW FOR THE LITTLE "SONG-FELLOW", SHE REALIZED
THE SOUND WAS NOT COMING FROM OUTSIDE BUT FROM HER FIREPLACE AND IT WAS NOT A BIRD SINGING BUT INSTEAD A BURNING LOG! THE
ANALOGY WAS DRAWN SO BEAUTIFULLY AND INSPIRING THAT I DESIRED TO WRITE A SONG ABOUT SING THRU THE FIRE.
SINGING THRU THE FIRE
VERSE 1
I was looking out my window on a cold
and stormy day
Trying to find the little bird singing not far away
But to my great amazement as the music I did trace
Came
not from outside my window but from my own fireplace
VERSE 2
It was then that I remembered
an old log that I'd brought in
Before I had thrown it on the fire how silent it had been
As the flames came up around
it and melted its hardened rings
A song like I never heard before the old log began to sing
CHORUS
Singing thru
the fire
The most beautiful song I ever heard
Came singing from the fire
Singing thru the fire, singing thru the
fire
The most beautiful song I ever heard
Came singing thru the fire
